Darwin Roadworthy Inspections
No one wants to be caught out with a car that doesn’t meet safety standards—especially when it means missed rego, surprise repairs or worse, a failed sale. At JJE Automotive in Darwin, we know roadworthys aren’t just a box to tick. They’re about peace of mind.
Our roadworthy inspections cover all the essentials—brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights and more—so you can drive away confident that your car is up to scratch. Whether you’re transferring ownership, re-registering or just need to know your vehicle is road-safe, we make the process simple, honest and fast.
We’ve been doing this since 2007, and we take pride in getting things right the first time. Call (08) 8931 1033 to book your roadworthy today and skip the stress.
Thorough Roadworthy Certificate Inspections
Every roadworthy inspection we do follows strict guidelines to ensure your vehicle is safe, legal and ready for the road. We check braking systems for proper function and wear, inspect tyres for tread depth and condition, test suspension and steering components, confirm the operation of lights, wipers and washers, and look for any visible rust or structural damage.
Even small faults can lead to a fail, so we take the time to explain what needs fixing and why, without the mechanic jargon. We work on all makes and models, including utes, sedans, 4WDs and family cars, and can handle quick re-checks if repairs are needed.
Getting a roadworthy shouldn’t be complicated. With our experience and straight-talking service, you’ll know exactly where you stand.
How long is a roadworthy certificate valid for in the Northern Territory?
In the NT, a roadworthy certificate is typically valid for 30 days from the date of issue. This means the vehicle must be registered or transferred within that period. If not, a new inspection is usually required to ensure the car’s condition hasn’t changed.
Can I sell my car without a roadworthy certificate?
In most cases, no. To legally sell a registered vehicle in the NT, a valid roadworthy certificate is required. This ensures the buyer receives a vehicle that meets minimum safety standards. Selling unregistered vehicles may not require one, but buyers will need it to register the car.
What happens if my car fails a roadworthy inspection?
If your car fails, the inspection report will outline the defects that need fixing before it can pass. Once repairs are completed, you’ll usually have a limited timeframe to return for a re-inspection. If too much time passes, a full inspection may be required again.
